Property Trend Melaka 1999
  • Melaka registered small increases in both total number of transactions and total value by 8% and 1.5% over the previous year. The total value transacted for the first months of 1999 was RM815.49 million.
  • The residential sector dominated the Melaka's property market, contributed 58.7% in total transaction and 53.3% of total value. Generally the prices for residential property still below the the pre-finanacila crisis levels, and rental eased by 25%.
  • In office space sector, due to the reducing economic activities in Melaka, the owners atempted to secure the tenants by giving rental discounts of up to 20%. Average occupancy rate still maintained 93% in town area.
  • The retail property's transactions increased sharply of 46.9% and 18.4% respectively in total number and total value.
  • There was small increase of 3.2% in total number of industrial property transactions to 261 in 1999.
  • The agricultural sector was the second active behind residential property, accounting 26.1% and 10.9% of the total number and total value in the state's property market. It registered less significant drops in total number and total value by 9.3% and 16.6% compared to previous year.
  • The development land's market activities increased 37.3% to 379 in 1999 compared to previous year's 276 transactions.
