- Generally, the property market in Perlis in 1998
registered a drop as a result of the prevailing regional
economic crisis.
- The total number of transactions decreased by 17.8%
compared to 1997, whilst the total value of transactions
declined by 26.5% from RM114,546 million recorded in 1997.
- The agricultural sector was the most active
sector dominating 54.8% of the total volume of transactions in
the state.
- Most of the transactions involved interior paddy land
below RM25, 000 per hectare.
- The residential sector remained stable, comprising 35.8%
of the total volume of transactions.
- This represented a marginal decrease of 7.25% from the
previous year Transactions of residential houses within the
range of RM25,000 - RM50,000 indicated an increase of 15.8% over
last year's figures.
- On the whole, the market for the commercial
sector remained sluggish.
- There were no newly launched projects except for the
clearance of the existing stock at Medan Kangar in Section 2,
with prices ranging around RM410,000 to RM420,000 per
unit.
